Spring Maintenance For Your AC System

It’s spring, and that means it’s the time of year to start thinking about maintenance for your air conditioner! The temperatures are warming up and “air conditioning season” is just around the corner.

Cleaning Your Outside Unit

One of our beautifully wrapped Jaric service vans

The number one thing we do to help our customers with preventive maintenance is just cleaning the outside unit. Even if you have a brand-new unit, after just one season there’s going to be a bunch of dirt, dust, and grass in your outdoor condensing unit. (That’s what the outdoor part of your air conditioner is called, the condensing unit.)

On these units the fan spins which pulls in air from all sides and shoots it out the top. When you look at your unit the inside will still look clean, but the outside will be dirty.

Why It’s Important That Your System is Clean

When the air temperature starts heating up in the summertime, the air pressure goes up too. When the outside of your unit is dirty not enough air can get into your system and your system can’t transfer the heat. If it can’t transfer heat the pressure goes up even higher, and when this happens it means you have a greater electricity consumption.

Be Proactive In Lowering Your Energy Bills

So for us, it’s an easy way to help our customer out and lower their energy bill, especially if they haven’t had maintenance done in a while. If you’re one of the many people who hasn’t had maintenance done on their unit in 10 years or so, you will be amazed at what a difference it makes to clean your unit! As soon as we do this, your unit’s electricity consumption goes way down!
