A Recent Replacement
We recently replaced the air conditioning side of a customer’s HVAC system. Your HVAC system has three main units: The outdoor unit, the furnace, and the evaporator coil. It’s this coil that handles the cold air. Your refrigerant (Freon) runs from your outside unit into the evaporator coil. The coil gets cold, and then the refrigerant goes back outside.
Depends on the Age of Your Furnace
Often when a part of your system goes out, HVAC companies will recommend that you change out the whole system. Sometimes that’s a good idea. In this case, the furnace was only 10 years old, and it did not need to be changed out. We were able to save the customer a lot of money by just changing out the air conditioning side.
