At Jaric, we will always give you options, but we will also help you find the best solution for your HVAC situation. The cheapest solution is sometimes not the best solution in the long run.
A Recent Customer
We recently went to a customer’s home and determined that his compressor had gone bad. He had a Lennox system, and Lennox compressors are typically pretty expensive. This one was just out of warranty, too!
Their Options
We gave him the price to replace the compressor alone, but we also gave him the price of replacing the condenser and coil, and of the full system.
New Requirements
Unfortunately, we cannot just give you a new outdoor unit anymore. Starting this year, the U.S. switched to a new refrigerant. All new manufactured equipment is R454B, not 410A. This means that if you have a condenser coil leak or if your compressor goes bad, we can repair those parts or install a new condenser and coil. But we can’t just install a new outdoor unit.
This means many customers find that they have to spend more money. Like we said, this customer’s compressor was expensive. It would not have made financial sense to put a new compressor in an older unit that is already not in good shape. In fact, this unit had already had two compressors replaced.
System Age
On top of that, his furnace was 27 years old. It just doesn’t make much sense to put a new compressor and coil with R454B equipment into a 27-year-old furnace. A furnace that old is well past its expected lifespan.
What Made More Sense To The Customer
Our customer’s best options, the options we recommended to him, were to replace the expensive condenser or replace the whole system. In the end, he decided to have us replace his entire system.
For Your System
We will always give you options, but we will also help you determine what repairs will make the most financial sense for you, given the age and condition of your system.
